                        If the boat will not be used for more than a
                        month, remove the battery and store it in a                  2 3

                        To remove the battery:                                                4
                        (1) Turn the battery switch to the OFF posi-
                            tion. (See page 40.)                    4                          1
                        (2) Disconnect the ground lead (black) and
                            the negative (–) battery lead (black).
                        (3) Disconnect the positive (+) battery lead  1  Positive (+) battery lead (red)

                                                              To store the battery:

                                                       1      (1) Clean the battery casing and terminals
                          4                                      using a mixture of baking soda and water
                                                        2        (one tablespoon of baking soda to one
                                                                 cup of water).

                          2                                   (2) Apply dielectric grease or petroleum jelly
                             3                                   to the  battery terminals and to all ex-
                                                         3       posed connectors.
                                                              (3) If the battery will be stored for a longer
                                                                 period, check its state of charge (use a

                                                              To charge the battery:
                                                              (1) Remove the caps from the cells. Add dis-
